We are a friendly bunch of enthusiastic badminton players who play every Monday at Redbridge Sports Club on 3 to 4 courts between 7pm and 10 pm. It's always doubles and we play feather.

Most of the players are executive club members, though we have some very good non-members too. Being an exec member at the club makes admin easy. So we encourage everyone to become one, if they can.

As a general rule, we follow the club policy with respect to the court fee, court availability, number of players allowed per court etc. This can change from time to time. As it stands today, our understanding is as below:

• RSL Exec Members: No court fee payable, if all 4 players are executive members

• RSL Non-members: Club charges a fee of £13.90 per hour when played with an executive member. This is a flat fee per court regardless of whether it's 1 non-member or 3 non-members. Hence we attempt to tag 3 non-members to a member to make it economical to the non-members. The 3 non-members pay the member on their court £9.27 each for 2 hours and the member in turn pays the club.

• Maximum 5 per court for doubles

• We dont expect everyone to play every week but to be part of this group, we need consistency in attendance. 

• We also require the monsters to commit to the full 2 hours unless there is an un-avaoidable personal reasons. Double booking with another group is not welcome.   

• Cancellations do happen occassionaly, but please remove your name from the court booking as soon as you come to know about it. 

Guest Players

Guest Players who are not Monsters yet are welcome to join our Monday sessions, subject to the following conditions:

• Space availability.

• Pay £4.00 feather shuttle fee per session

• Non-RSL exec members pay an additional non-member fee £9.27 

Shuttle Fees

We use feather shuttles and to cover the cost we collect a fixed fee of £8 per month with the following understanding:

• Shuttle purchases depend on regular fund collection and we rely on consistent attendance unless notified well before the start of a month. Some monsters pay for the months they don’t play and some have paid in advance for the whole year. Let it be a fair game. 

• Those  who declare unavailability for a month or more in advance do not have to pay for the month.

• If we run out of feathers in a month, we will switch to plastics for the remaining part of the month.

• If we accumulate excess funds, we will use it for better shuttles, tournaments etc.

Conserving the Shuttles

• ⁠Please book yourself before turning up for the games. This avoids overcrowding and excessive shuttle consumption.

• Refrain from using new shuttles for singles.

• If you intend to play after 10pm, use your own shuttles.

• Do not use monster shuttles for non-monster games.

• Avoid inviting non-monsters in to the games on the spot

• During the games, make it a habit to straighten up the shuttle before serving.

• Anyone collecting the shuttles at the end of the games at 10pm in my absence, please bring them back for the following Monday.
